Style: Special Occasion Casual + Quirk

I had two special events to dress for - my grandparent's church's Christmas play and a birthday dinner with my husband. I wanted a good balance between festive and casual for both and a dressy jean skirt was the perfect starting point. Then I chose my tops and accessories and added the "quirk". For me, an outfit that I really enjoy has one element of something unexpected, a quirk. For the Christmas outfit it was the earrings- oversized plastic red roses that I found at the Southern Women's show with my mom!
Sweater - Target
Tank - Target
Skirt- Thrifted
Boots - Target
Scarf - Dollar Store! (why spend a lot on something seasonal?)
Earrings - Craft Show

For the birthday outfit I wanted to wear my new sweater because it was a gift from my husband. I also have a statement necklace on but it is hard to see in the picture. The quirk in this outfit came from the juxtaposition of the tiny pink stripes in the tank and the leopard print ballet flats.

  1. Something big! Something that commands attention. If you you were looking at the outfit of a person wearing one, that would be the first thing you would notice. Perhaps I will do a post with a few examples.
