My Daughter's Birth Story - Part 1

Two years ago this week was when we found out we were having our daughter. It was right after eating free Chick-fil-A breakfast, which oddly enough, we did today too! I kept a journal during that time and thought I would share a little of it.

Jan. 7, 2011 ~ Week 6

I had been feeling a little funny for a about a week or so and was also a little late. Some co-workers had suggested that I might be pregnant but I didn’t want to get my hopes up. Jeremy and I went to Chick-fil-A for breakfast because they were giving out free spicy biscuits. We sat down to eat and I looked at mine and said, “No way. There is no way I could even think about eating this right now.” That’s when I really started thinking something was up! We went home so I could get ready for work and I went and found a test that I had stashed under the counter. It came out positive but Jeremy wasn’t sure so I sent him to CVS across the street to get another one. This was about 20 minutes before I had to leave for work. I took the next test and when the result was positive as well, I was astonished. I didn’t even know if it would be that easy for us to get pregnant and here I was, holding a positive test! I couldn’t concentrate at work all day.

Jan. 26. ~ Week 8

I got to see my baby for the first time on the ultrasound. I cried. I only wish they would have allowed Jeremy to be there too. It was pretty amazing. The baby wiggled and squirmed and said “Yep, I’m here!” The heart beat was 166 and the due date was set for September 1st  based on how big the baby was. They gave me a printout with pictures of the baby and it is truly a treasure. We finally made all of the important phone calls to tell people and the news was out!

March 7 ~ Week 14

I had thought I had felt a little something before, but when I laid down to go to bed and Jeremy started praying, I am pretty positive that I felt the baby moving. It didn’t last long but something was definitely going on in there!

April 1 ~ Week 18

Baby is really moving now. It is pretty unmistakable. I had a few jelly beans and felt 2 good kicks. Maybe I’ll take some to the ultrasound next week! J

April 5 ~ Week 18

It’s a GIRL! We are so excited. Jeremy got to come in to the ultrasound with me, so this time we got to see her together. It was so neat. She measured at 15 centimeters crown to rump but when I asked the doctor how long including legs she said on average around 10 inches, but it’s kind of hard to measure that right now. Most of the time, she was looking at us. I can’t wait to see those eyes for real!

May 7 ~ Week 23
A special first happened last night. I was lying on my back and the baby was really pushing on my abdomen. I tried to be as still as I could so Jeremy could feel her and then all of a sudden, my belly jumped up a little! It was the first time we had seen her move on the outside. I’m sure it won’t be the last.

August 11 ~ Week 37
FULL TERM! And a good thing too, because at times I can hardly breathe! We’re running out of room!

August 31 ~ 39 weeks, 6 days

I’ve been having contractions on and off since around 7:15. Could this be it? Still not sure. It would be pretty neat if baby came on her due date tomorrow, since I came on mine, just not by c-section like me!

September 1 ~ 40 weeks

Well, we made it to September. I think I was just having Braxton Hicks last night. Is today the day? I’m thinking no, but we will see. I so want to prove that doctor wrong about seeing him tomorrow!

September 5 ~ 40 weeks, 4 days
OK baby! This isn’t funny anymore! What are you up to in there? Mommy and Daddy want to meet you (and a whole lot of other people)! Don’t make the doctor have to come in and get you!

September 9 ~ 41 weeks, 1 day
Well, still pregnant, but not as stressed.  Scheduled to be induced on Sunday night. Hope we don't make it until then.
